About Me

About Me.

  • I have a severe peanut allergy. Unfortunately, peanut butter was one of my favorite foods, but now of course I can’t eat it. It’s funny, too. I used to eat it everyday- especially after my nutritionist suggested I eat it for its healthy fats. What’s even funnier is the story of how I developed my allergy. Well, it’s not hilarious but more precisely, weird. I got bit by a bat and had to get rabies shots. The allergist thinks the shots contributed to my allergy. I discovered later that the bat actually came from the building that my boyfriend owns. (I didn’t know him at the time of the bat bite.) I love him, but he owes me ; )
  • I live in a really small town. I mean, really small. The closest mall is about 45 minutes away. I only have the choice of two local grocery stores- Fresh and Green’s and Acme. I save trips to Trader Joe’s, Giant, or Whole Foods for the occasional weekend treat. But I do love our farmer’s market.
  • I have both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English literature. For the longest time, I wanted to be an English professor. Now, I’m not so sure…
  • I love, love, love magazines. I’ll read just about any of them, but I do have favorites like Cooking Light, Martha Stewart Living, and Real Simple.
  • I’m a certified zumba instructor, and I LOVE it! It’s the best workout, and I always feel my most joyous when I’m dancing.

I was totally that girl in gym class too! And I used to always argue that I was still in really great shape because I was a dancer. Glad I’m not the only one!

    We are a lot alike.

I grew up in a small town too (population 800) with one stop light and one corner store. The closest mall is slightly closer at @ 30 mins! Luckily I now live in an area where the supermarket is not an all day event. I have a B.A in English and am working on my M.A in Literature. And furthermore, I was also that girl in gym class!

I just found your blog and I think you do a really great job!

I live in a pretty small college town right now. My options are Walmart and Kroger for grocerys and I sadly have no idea where the closest Trader Joes or Whole Foods is :/

I’m glad you stopped by my blog. I came to check out yours and saw donuts. Yep! I’m hooked!!!

The bat bite story is quite incredible. Yikes!

I grew up in a small town with a Kroger and a Piggly Wiggly. I feel so spoiled now with Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods on my doorstep. My mother likes to remind me that I’m spoiled when I post about things that she can’t find back in Arkansas! I once had to mail her a can of tahini so that she could make hummus.

    I can’t wait to read more! :-)

I love the NYC Ballet dvd too!! For a while, it was my favorite dvd ever–then I lost it. I go to a dance/yoga fusion class these days that combines my love of yoga with a lot of the ballet moves from that DVD, but I need to buy myself a new copy. Thanks for the reminder :) I’m so glad you are out here sharing your story.

You’re so cute! I completed a B.A. in English, and I’m working on my M.A.T. in Secondary English. What do you think you want to do now if not teach? I’m not sold on the idea, but I am going to give it a try… haha. Glad to have stumbled upon your blog. :)

So glad you found me! Ideally I’d like to work in public relations for a museum or theater one day. It would be so much fun to write the brochures and work on the ad campaigns. Can’t wait to check out your blog, too.
