Summer Essentials
How did you survive the heat of this weekend?
Ugh. It was so, so hot here. I nearly melted.
I spent the majority of Saturday and Sunday, without air conditioning let me note, fanning myself and pinning fashion and home and food inspiration on Pinterest.
It was even too hot for the pool.
Eventually I decided to drag myself off the couch and go grocery shopping. Not only did the extreme blast of ac feel amazing, the sweetest older woman stopped me by the mangos and bananas to compliment my dress.
She told me how much she loved it and that it reminded her of when she was young and beautiful and could wear such things. She told me to enjoy it while it lasts.
And I will…
In recognition of that sweet compliment (and the oppressive summer heat), I have a little list for you of my summer musts in terms of fashion and sun.
1. Asos Summer Midi Dress in Smudge Spot Print
Here’s the dress that I wore to the grocery store. I first spotted it in Real Simple and fell in love with the back. Sizing from Asos is a little complicated given that it’s a European company. I should have gone a size or two smaller but wanted to wear it for the 4th of July, so I just tailored it myself by adjusting the straps and the back bow. It’s adorable. And a little sexy.
2. Mossimo for Target’s Mix and Match Stripe Twist Bandeau Top
When I saw this picture of my sister (on the left) in a sweet black and white bikini, I just had to know where she got it. Turns out, it is an inexpensive bikini from Target. I just got mine in the mail, and it is so flattering and cute.
3. Victoria’s Secret Studded Bra Top Dress in white
This dress may be my very best purchase of the summer. It’s simple and elegant and also a little sexy— a combination of traits that’s hard to achieve. It’s also perfect for a night out, a trip to the beach, or errands.
4. Merona for Target’s Esma Sandal in Cognac
Also from Target, this sandal is wonderful. Not only is it super comfy, it’s only $15! I would like a pair in every color but, for now, the cognac is working well with all of my summer outfits.
5. Loreal Sublime Sunscreen in SPF30 and/or SPF50
I always wear sunscreen. I am pale and burn easily, but I’ve found that this sunscreen is excellent. I like that it’s available in a spray, and I also like that it doesn’t clog my pores and cause breakouts. I just found a great deal at Rite Aid—buy one get one free—if you’re interested.
So what do you say? Have any summer essentials?
Stay cool my friends.
Xo.

Love those Merona sandals! It is HOT and humid in Houston, like always!!
