It’s bananas…

January 23, 2009

Look what I bought at the grocery store last night!

This picture doesn’t quite do my excitement justice because if you can’t see, I got 15 bananas for $1.25. And…they’re not even brown. That’s about 8 cents per banana. Wow. Of course now I have to eat a lot of bananas, but that’s okay since they’re delicious and good for me. Plus, if I get desperate, I’ll make Dennis gag a few down ; )

Dinner last night was good. I made a grilled cheese on my panini maker with two slices of whole wheat potato bread and a slice of muenster cheese. I was feeling creative, so I pulled out a heart cookie cutter. (It must have been that Martha I read the other night.) Anyway, for art’s sake, I present only the heart-shaped sandwich below, but don’t worry, I definitely ate the entire sandwich, crust included.

I also had a plate of fruit after this. Along with my banana steal, I picked up a bunch of apples and pears. I couldn’t decide which fruit I wanted so I had half a banana, half a pear, and half a fuji. Delicious.

Oh yeah, I did go to zumba last night. It was good, but I didn’t get quite the workout that I usually do. (It was only the third class that my friend has ever taught, so she’s still ironing out a few kinks. She did a great job though, and she filled, I mean, filled the gym with a ton of college girls.) Needless to say, I woke up this morning with a huge amount of energy. I went to the gym and did the elliptical for about an hour and did some ab work for about 15 minutes. But, there’s a catch, I burned way too many calories this morning. Since we usually go out on Friday nights, I’m not too worried about a deficit because I’ll probably have a few drinks this evening. (I love rum and diets and lemon drops.)

After the gym I returned home to a treat from Daisy. Yes, I’m being sarcastic. I guess the door of the laundry room wasn’t shut all the way, and she got into a bunch of trash. Lucky me got to clean it up. Then, I showered, got ready, and had a fun breakfast. Look at this deliciousness.

The creative juices were still flowing from last night, so I took two Vitamuffin Golden Corn tops, cut a heart in one of them, and filled it with a tablespoon of the best strawberry jam ever (Bonne Maman preserves). I also had the other half of my banana and fuji. This breakfast was perfect. I just loved it

So, here’s to a happy Friday. I hope it’s wonderful and goes by quickly.
